Waco Reunion, June 23, 2012

On June 23, a group of Abilene High Eagles from the class of 1959
gathered in Waco for a reunion, coming from all quarters (except no one currently
living in Abilene was able to attend). Thirty-four classmates and spouses
were on hand, 19 of which are class of '59 alumni.

Classmate Martha (Martie) Fox Sauter and her husband Vern served as our hosts.
Below are a few photos from the day. More will be posted as they arrive.

Photos in this set were taken by Stephanie and Art Crothers, Forrest Croom and Vern Sauter.
It's a great bunch of pictures!

Martie tells the story of this sign over the fireplace in their den.

"My uncle was in London when he spotted the tavern sign outside this pub (it has the same
image on both sides). He asked the owner if he would sell it which he agreed to –
can’t believe it as it's over 100 years old. Uncle had it in his living room in New Hope, PA.
We first saw it in 1981 when we visited him. When he died in the late 90's he left the sign
to me (only niece) as well as the clock in the dining room. He gave us many treasures
over the years – several clocks – one in the entry hall which he said was a little ostentatious."

How about doing it again next year, someone asked?
